Bio

 

the hair cells (properly spelled without capitalization) is the third incarnation of the collaboration between songwriters Alex Niemiec and Zach Sharrow.  The first was a high school band with a rotating lineup called Wunderbar.  Like everyone else on the planet, they started out with an abundance of ambition and the naivete to match.  As a first experiment in writing and performing, Wunderbar served its purpose, but life marched on.  Members left for college and the air force, and things were slow for a while.  Alex enrolled in a chemical engineering program; Zach wandered aimlessly away to a liberal arts school in rural Ohio.  They eventually realized that they enjoyed working together and despite physical distance embarked upon a new project, Fireworks. Keeping in touch primarily via the internet, they honed their craft and started learning the ins and outs of the time-honored tradition of bedroom recording sessions. The two albums that Fireworks produced showcased a wealth of good ideas and raw talent that the duo had finally begun to cultivate.

Although the hair cells hasn't yet seen the addition of any new members, it marks a new attitude toward the writing and recording process and hopefully a change in the fortunes of two guys who, at heart, are just in love with music.
